Remote Controlled Lighting (RCL) by Luminii has been at the forefront of developing technology for the architectural lighting industry since 2001. RCL’s motorized luminaires have transformed lighting control in over 1,000 luxury hotel ballrooms and numerous museum, gallery and retail projects worldwide. RCL have 2 in-house developed proprietary control systems, along with wide compatibility with standard wired lighting control protocols.
“AN INTUITIVE iPAD-BASED & FLEXIBLE LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM”
RCL has used its 2 decades of experience and expertise to create RCL Control, our brand-new lighting control system which simplifies complex motorized lighting schemes into one easy-to-use system, capable of operating across multiple rooms and even multiple floors. RCL’s latest luminaires feature the ability to manipulate beam width, color temperature, and motorized positioning, providing the ultimate flexible lighting solution for any application.
RCL Control has been designed to reflect the real time nature of lighting control; the system uses a dynamic reconfiguring wireless mesh network, constantly self-optimizing to maintain signal reliability. The Thread mesh network provides longer-range coverage with excellent scalability, but without compromising on latency, the reaction speed between command and action, meaning there is almost no limit to the size or shape of a project. RCL Control is highly resilient to any security threat as it does not require any internet services and uses the latest in wireless device security, along with a unique and secure authentication system.
Users can easily organize and navigate complex lighting schemes thanks to the intuitive user interface and flexible lighting controls. Live on-screen feedback ensures that luminaire adjustment is simple, intuitive and responsive. Perfect for large-scale applications, RCL Control allows the user to create zones, light plans, groups, and scenes (pre-saved light settings) to organize hundreds of luminaires across multiple rooms and floors. This tiered set-up allows users to easily navigate complex lighting schemes and control individual or multiple luminaires at once.
Controlling and manipulating light has never been so easy. Users position their luminaires directly onto “light plans” for quick and easy selection and adjustability, putting complete control into their hands. RCL Control allows users to import professional lighting schematics, or even take photos of room layouts instantly with the iPad camera, offering simple and highly versatile commissioning of lighting schemes.
RCL Control offers multiple levels of control, ranging from group fixture manipulation to fine-tuning individual luminaires. Motorized pan and tilt positioning can be controlled either together through the joystick interface for rapid positioning, or individually via the precision control dials, allowing adjustments in minute increments for incredible accuracy. Along with high-resolution positioning, RCL Control provides user-friendly manipulation of color temperature and beam width, delivering truly customizable and flexible lighting at the user’s fingertips.
RCL Control can integrate into existing DALI control systems, transmitting external commands from the master building control system, and allowing saved Scenes, inclusive of motorized positioning and full beam manipulation, to be configured for and recalled by DALI Scene panels, providing yet another level of control and flexibility.
At the focal point of RCL by Luminii’s product family is the professional Remote Controller. RCL by Luminii’s proprietary handheld controller is integral not only in the commissioning process but in supplementing our standard offering control protocols including DMX, DALI, 0-10V and RCL Control; their proprietary wireless control system. Our patented ‘Select & Direct’ technology gives anyone the ability to adjust our lights in three easy steps using a remote control. Select & Direct is particularly popular with art galleries, hospitality and retail environments where layout and content can change on a weekly, sometimes daily basis, and lights need altering individually.
The RCL handheld remote controller affords control of all aspects of the luminaire. Our products are available both as solely controlled by the remote or with another protocol. Regardless of if another protocol is specified on the product, it will always have the ability to be controlled by our handheld remote controller. The luminaire will always power up with its last configuration.
The RCL Control iPad app offers an intuitive, user-friendly interface capable of managing multiple rooms and floors. RCL control requires a mediator device that acts as the wired to wireless interface on the project, this device acts as the hub, receiving then distributing wireless commands to up to 200 luminaires. The mediator can receive DALI or DMX wired inputs to allow control of groups of luminaires and recalling scenes requested from external building management systems. RCL Control utilises a dynamic wireless mesh network for robust, scalable and low-latency performance, ensuring reliable and secure operation without internet dependence. Luminaires can be organised into zones, groups and scenes, all controlled through our award-winning reflected ceiling plan interface.
DALI offers brightness, CCT, group and scene control of our luminaires, the handheld remote is needed for movement. The first 10 scenes can be programmed by handheld controller and recalled by DALI, in this case all configured features can be set and recalled (i.e. zoom, position, etc). Not all DALI controllers use the DALI scene command, so testing is recommended.
All configured features of our luminaires are available for control by DMX, by default the fixture will have a footprint of 4, allowing for pan, tilt and dim control. The handheld remote allows the user to select one of six possible profiles allowing for dim only, dim and movement or movement and control of all fitted light engine features with different resolutions available. Please note that RGBW is controlled with a hue and saturation channel.
When installing DMX to track mounted fixtures it is important to ensure that appropriate electrical isolation is provided between the DMX circuits on the track and any DMX connections. The DMX and electrical grounds will need to be connected, typically by a mains-powered splitter on the same circuit.
0-10V has a single control group as all luminaires connected to the databus will dim in unison. 0-10V will only control the brightness, the handheld remote is needed for movement, CCT and zoom if available.
Phase dimming is not available on RCL products.
